My First Blog Post

Brasov, Romania

I said that I will start with one of the most beautiful cities that I have ever visited in Romania. Brasov was my home for the last 3 years so there are a lot of things to say about this.

If you are coming from another country, the easiest way to go to Brasov is the train, but you can also rent a car or use the bus. Prices are normal, cheaper than in other European countries. (maximum 50 lei/ person- see the currency with your own money) Don’t worry, on your way to Brasov, the cities and villages you’ll go through are also one of the best, and here I am counting Sinaia, Busteni, if you are coming from Bucharest. The mountains from Busteni are breathtaking so you will not be disappointed because of the long road. (see the photos below)

After this great view, you are arriving in the Brasov train station, place which is not giving you a good impression, like every train station from Romania. But, once you take the bus or the taxi to the city center, you are amazed by everything. Even the markets are prettier and be sure that you can find everything you need on your way to the place you’re staying in your trip to Brasov.

I know everyone is thinking just to the city center but Brasov is a big city in Romania so you can visit many other places near the city center. I’ll start with Vf. Tampa, a MUST SEE place if you are arriving here. Is on the top of the city and it offers you such a great view and such a fresh air. Is good option in the summer but also in the winter, because they have cable car which is functioning every day until 17.00, and it costs 18 lei, a trip up and down.

Another place you must visit is the Bran Castle, not so far from city of Brasov. I am sure everyone knows this place because of Legend of Dracula. You can go there with a bus that costs just 8 lei but be prepared to pay the entry of the castle, which is almost 40 lei. There is organizing one of the biggest „party” for Halloween sooo, if you are a big fan of Halloween, come in that time and you’ll see how we celebrate the most popular American tradition.

About food, in the city center you can find everything you need, from traditional food and drinks, to foreign cuisine, like turkish restaurants, hungarian soups and greek souvlaki. Prices are little big higher because of the city center, but, as I said, there are many other cities more expensive than this.

As a recommendation, if you want to eat good and cheap, you can try every time a cruncy menu from Panini. This is a fast food that everyone likes and if you don’t know how the heaven tastes like, go and try the spicy sauce from there..it’s God on Earth. For people who want to eat different, and not romanian cuisine, you can try the turkish restaurant Sultan Mehmet, which is close to city center. The food is delicious and prices are low, the waiters are so kind and everything is fresh and tasty. Another cute place that you can go is ForSale Pub, a place that gives you a comfortable sensation. It offers you free nuts and you can stay all day there, to drink something and enjoy the good music and cute atmoshpere. Also, you can write on a paper your thoughts and hang it on the wall, as after many years to see it there and remember good old days.

Check the photos below in order to make an idea about this and maybe you can consider Romania as your next destination.

Kisses.
